True to Life, Hard-hitting, Gutsey, Creative and Inspiring are some of the words people have used to describe what Hartley writes. His first written work for the stage debuted in 1986 in the form of scene transitions and short sketches for two traveling theatrical troupes. His theater experience includes more than twenty-five years of Acting, Directing, Technical production, Scene and Costume design. He has received honors for his work both on and off the stage. Hartley penned his first creative work, a short story entitled, “The Dog and the Cat” in 1975. In 1985 he created the origins of his story for the Breadman trilogy—based purely on a friend's illustrated depiction of a humanized slice of whole wheat. A few of his
creative poems were published in a late 1980's collection entitled, Images.

“Hartley Wright...does not hesitate to move passion to paper and loves to stir the most curious edge of one's imagination. Hartley is the quintessential creative writer. His masterfully woven material is unique, refreshing, and tantalizing. Often full of intrigue, humor, and suspense, Hartley's material is never boring or stale. It arrests the heartbeat of his fans...is clever to the end.”         —Dean Shane Cassem Late Author of Breakthrough

It was a pleasure to have Hartley Wright's material in our repertoire. His characters are always full of depth and life. His writing is so real to life that audiences are always transformed right into the midst of the play. Hartley writes captivating dialogue that carries the audience member from one emotion to the next, all the while threading the plot and characters into a humorous, interesting and touching story.”
